Riyadh, 30 November 2025: Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind regenerative tourism destinations The Red Sea and AMAALA, concluded the second edition of the Red Sea Classic Sailing Cup on Friday evening (28 November). Following two days filled with heritage competitions and a vibrant carnival atmosphere at Turtle Bay in The Red Sea destination, the closing ceremony was attended by several senior leaders from the company and its partners.
This year’s edition was held under the theme ‘Set Sail’, inspired by the sail’s symbol as a beacon of resilience, livelihood, and cultural connection for the local region. The event extended beyond sporting challenges, transforming Turtle Bay into a joyful community carnival. Families and residents from across the Red Sea region gathered to enjoy diverse activities, accompanied by music from traditional folk bands.
The Red Sea waters witnessed thrilling competitions with the participation of 14 heritage dhows in the main race and five boats in the youth category. Ninety-five sailors from the local community competed, delivering exceptional performances that showcased their mastery of traditional sailing arts, amidst a significant public and media presence reflecting the growing momentum of sporting events at the destination.
"The notable media attendance, coupled with the warm engagement from families and visitors, confirm the status The Red Sea destination has achieved as a platform for marine sports. This directly supports Saudi Arabia's objectives to solidify its position on the international tourism and sports map," he added.
At the conclusion of the competition, winners in various categories were crowned, and partners and teams who contributed to transforming this event into a comprehensive heritage festival were honored. RSG reaffirmed its commitment to elevating this event annually, establishing it as a key attraction for marine sports and coastal culture enthusiasts.
RSG welcomed its first guests to The Red Sea in 2023 and now operates 10 resorts, as well as Red Sea International Airport (RSI), which receives regular flights from Riyadh, Jeddah, Milan, Dubai, and Doha.
